Wednesday, September 15, 2021 -Good luck for a group of 122 Kenyan students who have landed lucrative job deals in France where they will be teaching English subject both at primary and secondary level.
The one year deal is part of an exchange program between the two nations – Kenya and France- and once they land there they will be posted to various regions like Guyana, Martinique and Guadalupe.
Confirming this news, Julie Briand from France Embassy said in total they were 150 before they were chopped down to 122 students in a process that took them through a testing process.
“We selected them based on their motivation and will to share their culture with others. The purpose of the programme is to develop the mobility of young people and create bridges between French and Kenyan cultures,” she told journalists.
She added that each will be taking home a whopping 800 Euros an equivalent of sh 103,970 every month on 12-hour working schedule per day.
Ninety two will teach English in Secondary schools while 30 will be deployed to elementary classes. They will also enjoy free medical cover and a visa for a work permit.
“It’s a nice feeling since this will be my first time to travel outside the country. I’ve studied the French language from secondary school at Alliance Française and now I’m at C1 (superior) proficiency level,” students, Hawo Hassan stated.
French Embassy under Aline Kuster lauded the professional relationship between the countries and said it will be the best opportunity for Kenyan students to explore a different culture which might give them a lifetime career abroad.
