Wednesday, December 1, 2021 –Another consignment of 1,462,400 Covid-19 vaccines has arrived in the country as government continues with its efforts to make sure everybody is inoculated.
Through a confirmation statement of December 1, Health Ministry announced that so far the country had received a whopping 14,120,000 vaccine doses for consumption.
“Upto now Kenya has received an additional 1,462,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine in yet another boost for the ongoing accelerated Covid-19 vaccination drive.
“The latest consignment brought the number of doses received in the country to 14,120,000,” MoH stated.
The 1.4 million doses have arrived amid rising concerns of another variant Omicron virus which was detected in South Africa a few weeks ago.
“This new variant’s profile, for now, remains unknown. It is, therefore, better to err on the side of caution. By receiving our vaccinations, we will have played our part in securing not only our own lives but also protecting the lives of those around us. let us be responsible in this endeavour,” President Uhuru Kenyatta said in his Tuesday’s State of the Nation speech.
Ministry of Health led by CS Mutahi Kagwe have also been holding crisis meetings to discuss the fate of the virus as the world moves towards Christmas celebrations.
