16 year old succumbs to Covid-19 as death toll hits 364

A young patient aged 16 years has died from Covid-19. Ministry of Health has confirmed.

The diseased now brings the total number of those who have lost lives through Coronavirus to 364 raising questions as to the danger the disease can cause to anyone regardless of age.

Initially it was believed that the old and babies were at a higher risk of contracting the virus than the teenagers but with this new case, it is now obvious that Covid-19 virus is a threat to all age groups.

Health Cabinet Secretary CS Mutahi Kagwe, in his latest speech, raised concerns about the little teenager’s demise.

“We are increasingly seeing younger people passing away. People should stop socializing and gathering,” Kagwe said.

The latest tests have shown that Kenya alone has 21,363 cases of Coronavirus. This is after 6,371 samples underwent testing.

According to the Ministry of Health MOH report, Nairobi has been profiled as the most affected region in the entire country.

CS Kagwe observed that places like Kirinyaga, Kiambu, Kajiado and Machakoa are also overloaded and might need an urgent support to control the quick spread of the virus which has now graduated to ‘community infections’.

“We took PPEs to Kiambu County yesterday (Friday). Kiambu is in that state and needs national government support due to the number of deaths and cases,” the CS was quoted by Citizen Digital.

Good news from Kagwe’s speech indicated that 254 patients had recovered in the last 24 hours. This therefore brought that total recoveries to 8,419.
