200 Lawyers Arrive and Surround Matiang’i’s Home

Thursday, February 9, 2023 –Top lawyer Danstan Omari has disclosed the number of lawyers who have camped at Dr, Fred Matiang’is Karen residence waiting to secure his(Matiang’i’s) freedom.

In a statement he delivered while at the scene of the incident and flanked by Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party leader Raila Odinga, Lawyer Omari said a whopping 200 lawyers were already surrounding the residence until that time Matiang’i’s safety and freedom is guaranteed.

He described the police raid at the former cabinet secretary’s home as retrogressive in the 21-century when every human right must be protected.

Lawyer Omari said the 200-lawyers will not be leaving the home because the life of Dr. Matiang’i was at a great risk.

“I can confirm to every Kenyan in this country that the life of Matiang’i is at risk. We do not know the intention of invading his home at this time of the night. We don’t know why they want to arrest him and where they want to take him,” Lawyer Omari stated.

On his part, a visibly angry Azimio la Umoja boss Raila Odinga said he was shocked to learn that Matiang’i was being raided by a group of armed elite squad.

“I was shocked to hear that this was happening at this time of the night. The times of late-night arrests and detentions without any formal charges appear to be coming back,” Raila Odinga said.

Raila and Lawyer Omari arrived in Karen immediately they learnt of these events.
