Monday, April 8, 2024 –A young Junior Secondary school teacher hanged self to death after noticing love related communication in his girlfriend’s mobile phone.

Bernard Langat, a 33-year-old teacher in Trans Mara, Narok County, committed suicide by hanging himself outside his lover’s house.

A source which first picked up the story claimed that he(Langat) had spent the night at his girlfriend Sharon’s rental place near Bomet Central TTI, where she is taking a course.

And speaking about the matter, Ms Sharon revealed to detectives that Langat discovered love-related messages from two other men in her mobile phone during his latest visit. He quickly resorted to confronting Sharon about the matter, but she defended herself, stating that Langat was not serious about marriage. This is what upset him.

Sharon also mentioned that she refused to have intimacy with Langat due to biological reasons, as the visit was impromptu. Langat would pile pressure so that he could spend the night together with his lover but it was not possible.

The source added that the diseased repeatedly expressed his disappointment to Sharon, stating, “Kabisa umekataa, umekataa kabisa,” which means “you have denied me” in Swahili.

The late Langat, before taking own life, had shared an emotional message on Facebook where he apologised to his parents, siblings, relatives and Sharon for his actions.

Following the incident, Sharon is reportedly experiencing depression and says she urgently requires close monitoring and counseling to handle the situation.
