Embattled Governor Obado takes himself to police

Governor Okoth Obado finally surrendered to authorities after reports about police hunting for him emerged.

On Wednesday August 26^th, Citizen Digital reported that the embattled governor had to finally surrender to Ethics and Anticorruption Commission EACC offices in Kisii town for grilling.

He is accused of embezzling upto sh 73 million through family members and proxies with four of his children named in the multimillion scandal.

Obado reportedly landed at the station at around 7AM accompanied by nine other suspects named in the highly wanted list.

DPP office led by Noordin Haji on Tuesday August 25^th revisited the debate saying his office had successfully concluded investigations into the underdealings at the Migori County Headquarters saying they had gathered enough evidence against Mr. Obado and 23 others.

A total of sh 73,474,376.90 had been embezzled by the accused together with his accomplices who were trading through companies that had faulty tenders at Migori County with details showing a complex web on money syphoning which was wired to Obado’s accounts some held by his children namely Susan Scarlet Okoth, Jerry Zachary Okoth and Achola Dan Okoth.

Some of these monies had been used to pay for his children education abroad, upkeep and medical bills in Austrialia, Scotland and United Kingdom.

Details also confirmed that they also used part of the money to purchase high end fuel guzzlers Toyota Landcuiser brand V8.

On her part, his daughter Scarlet used a whopping sh 34,525,000 to purchase a house in Nairobi’s Loresho Ridge Estate.

The publication further reported that Misoft Limited, Trachdog Printers, Deltrack ICT Services, Seletrack Consultants, Mactebac Contractirs, Joyush Business, Swyfcon Engineering, Atinus Services, Kajubu Business, Victorious Investments, Dolphus Softwares, Pesulus Services and Dankey Press are the companies that participated in the wanton looting.

According to the office of the DPP, owners of these companies were all proxies of Governor Okoth Obado who is also facing another murder case of Rongo University female student and her unborn baby.
