Why MP Kuria has Withdrawn From Vying for any Political Seat

Wednesday, September 1, 2021 -Choice by Gatundu South legislator Moses Kuria to announce that he will not be vying for any political seat has continued to elicit mixed reactions from political players.

Speaking in a function yesterday, Gatundu South lawmaker clarified to his rivals that he is planning to vie for nothing in the coming elections saying his main focus going forward will be to unite their vote rich Mt. Kenya region.

He added that his main agenda is to champion for the needs of their region on the national discussion table since they will nolonger be fielding a presidential candidate this time around.

“Hakuna kiti hata moja mimi ntasimama. Kazi yangu ni kusimama kwa meza juu na kuuuliza haki yetu. Hii watu yetu ya Mount Kenya mimi kazi ni kuwashikanisha na kuwanjegea chama ambayo italeta MCA wote, Wabunge wote, Magavana na Masenate na itaenda kwa meza kuuliza yetu ni nini,” Kuria said in Swahili.

He was saying this to respond to allegations from his detractors that he had formed his party to interfere with the voting patterns of the Mt. Kenya region.

“Kuitisha yetu ni nini si vibaya kwa sababu yule tunaitisha ni binadamu kama sisi sio Mungu. Wale walikuwa wanafikiria mimi nasema hivyo sababu ya kujisaidia mwenyewe, mimi nimesema kazi yangu kutoka sai ni kujenga chama,” he added.

Just like ex-Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri, Kuria(Chama cha Kazi) and Martha Karua((Narc Kenya) all want to unite their parties and lock the Central Region ahead of 2022.

The trio have also remained firm that they won’t be dissolving their parties for any other coalition.

And weighing on the matter, Journalist David Makali told Citizen Tv that the idea of Kuria not vying could be informed by the fact that he is position himself to be a running mate for Ruto.
