Saturday, September 18, 2021 -Businessman-turned-politician Jimi Wanjigi has blamed part of Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party leadership for Friday incident that saw him stoned in Migori County.
In his Friday September 17 presser after the incident that saw him duck inside his car as some stones were hurled at him, Wanjigi noted that it is so sad to see the party which has been at the forefront championing for democracy, today being consumed by power to a level that it nolonger values democracy.
He linked the violence meted on him during his Migori tour to a section of Nyanza ODM politicians who don’t want anyone to challenge Raila Odinga for presidency.
“It is a sad day for democracy in this party. You may not like my message, but you must defend my right to say it…I can assure you that there is no interference from outside of ODM in what happened.
“I also urge the security agencies to take up this matter,” Wanjigi stated.
He asked Mr. Odinga to come out and speak to his troupes to stop the hooliganism if he is to be taken serious because it might spill out in another areas.
On his part, MP Junet Mohamed also leader of campaigns ODM party, argued that this was not the first time chaos was being witnessed in Migori and therefore need to address this so that it could be brought to a rest for once.
“As a leader in Migori County, I take great exception to the incident where a political event was disrupted. We have worked hard to create an environment where everyone can sell their policies across the Country. This was the basis of the handshake,” he began.
He asked the law enforcers to swing into action and bring to book the perpetrators of lawlessness in the area.
His sentiments were quickly echoed by ODM Party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna who also condemned the attack against their member.
