Don’t ask me about corruption ask me about health -Kagwe

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has told the country that he cannot be questioned about corrupt dealings in his docket since his main duty was to ensure good healthcare in the country and not the other way round.

On Sunday September 6th, the embattled CS noted on live Tv interview that it was wrong for Kenyans to push him to respond to corruption matters at the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority KEMSA when his job description JD was clear in the constitution.

He therefore asked Kenyans to ask him questions to do with poor health services in the country and not about money lost.

“It is one thing to eliminate corruption, and quite another to ensure the system is moving efficiently.

“It is not enough to fight corruption. My job is not to fight corruption, my job is to provide healthcare,” he reasoned.

This remark, however, was not well received by many Kenyans who poured on the comment section seeking to know why the Health CS could attempt to run away from the multimillion loss of public money from a docket he oversees.

They have since asked him to do the honorable thing and step aside for investigations so that if found clean, he can then resume office.

“Finally, someone who has admitted that this administration is not fighting corruption. That’s why he attends funerals and other functions where there is no physical distancing and all his health rules are ignored,” commented social media user Jesse Kenya.

Another concerned Kenyan wondered how sound healthcare could be achieved when all the funds meant for the purpose were being looted by same persons who are supposed to manage it.

“How will healthcare be provided when all the funds have been looted and supplies mismanaged? How?” posed Tracy Mwangi.

Mr. Kagwe however asked Kenyans to instead wait for investigating agencies to conclude their work before anyone can hung him.
