Our sources revealed that the boat was involved in the accident at Pier Beach in Homa Bay County area and only six individuals had been rescued by the time of going to the press.

Those who had been rescued were rushed to nearby hospitals as search for the remaining 10 persons continued. The vessel was carrying a total of 16 persons.

The victims are said to have been traveling to Ndhiru Beach in Mbita Sub-county when the incident occurred.

According to area chief Joshua Ochogo, a woman and a child aged barely two years were among those who lost their lives in the Tuesday evening accident. Their bodies were retrieved by local divers who swung into action when they heard of the accident.

Upto now (Tuesday evening) eight individuals are still missing as search for them picked momentum.
