Thursday, September 30, 2021 -Court has jailed Mr. Mukuria Ngamau for 27 years following a court case he has been battling over millions of youth funds lost during his tenure.
The suspect was required to clarify on the sh 180 million lost under his watch at the Youth Enterprise Development Fund YEDF.
The court also gave him an alternative of paying sh 720 million or fail and serve his full term of 27 years behind bars.
In one of the Parliamentary Investment Committee PIC inquest he was summoned to appear, it was established that there were two multi-million shilling contracts which were awarded through single sourcing with an aim of defrauding public coffers. Interestingly, the accused confessed making the payments to his companies.
Details revealed that in the first contract, Quorandam Limited (a company associated with Ngamau) was supposed to provide digital consultancy service design within seven days at the value of sh 65.9 million; while in the second contract, Ngamau’s firm was to offer consultancy services on a certain software for their department at the value of sh 114.9 million.
It was after securing the second contract that he confessed before the Parliament that he released a whopping sh 115 million to an American national by the name Donnie Collins Reeves for part of the work.
When MPs did some background check on the American man, results established that Reeves was a dead person who died long ago at the age of 61.
