Wednesday, October 20, 2021 –Kenyans will have to resume their normal evening operations after the dusk-to-dawn curfew was today lifted by President Uhuru Kenyatta during the 58th National Mashujaa Day celebrations.

Restaurant owners were among the stakeholders who had made the plea to the head of State citing a hurting economy.

“I hereby order that the nationwide dusk to dawn curfew that has been in effect from 2020 be vacated with immediate effect,” Uhuru announced amid rapturous applause from those in the stadium.

In their argument, the Pubs, Entertainment and Restaurant Association of Kenya PERAK said the President had neglected their sector which they believe also employs so many people for their livelihood.

Led by Mr. Frank Mboso, they said they are now convinced that there is nothing that can warranty more curfews in the country and it was time Uhuru should lift the restrictions imposed to them to revamp the sector which is already down.

Latest data from the Ministry of Health currently shows that the rates of infection had gone below 5 percent over the last three weeks and with increased vaccinations around the country, it was obvious that the pandemic would finally slow down to its extinction.

“There has been a rapid increase in vaccinations across the country and there is an evident effort to not only get more vaccines in the country but to get them to more people,” said Michael Muthami, PERAK national chairman.
