Wednesday, October 20, 2021 –Lawyer Miguna Miguna is an elated man following plans by former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga to bring him back to the country.
The ex-CJ today Wednesday October 20 disclosed his plans to travel to Toronto Canada on November 16 with an aim of bringing back the exiled lawyer who was deported some 3 years ago with his efforts to return home facing stiff resistance from government.
And on reading the news about the good plans, Mr. Miguna rushed to his social media platforms to show his willingness to come back home after a long push and pull with the State agencies.
In his response post, the exiled lawyer said he can’t wait to be back to the country after he was forcefully relocated to Canada afew years ago following his involvement in the mock swearing in of the former premier Raila Odinga as well as constant attacks to the regime.
“Former CJ @WMutunga: Thank you for the DECISION to travel to Canada and accompany me HOME on November 16. It’s 1,357 days (3 years, 8 months and 18 days) since I was forcefully exiled. We need GENUINE FREEDOM. Let them remove the RED ALERTS! I’m ready!” Miguna responded.
Mr. Mutunga’s decision to involve himself in Miguna’s woes is, according to his long publication, informed by the fact that there must be a clear separation of powers between the executive and the judiciary.
“After careful reflection and following broad consultations with lawyers, human rights and justice defenders, progressive politicians, and Mr Miguna himself, I have decided to travel to Toronto, Canada, to accompany Mr Miguna on his flight back to his motherland on 16 November 2021. I am also seeking out Kenyan journalists who will accompany me on this historic journey,” he revealed in the publication.
The legal scholar went on to state that his traveling to Canada to bring Miguna will definitely be against the ruling government but that will not stop him from exercising his sovereign rights.
It has also emerged that the Law Society of Kenya LSK President Nelson Havi will also be accompanying the ex-CJ to Canada; this was revealed through a follow up post he made on his official Twitter handle.
Miguna’s own statements details that its exactly 1,357 days(3 years, 8 months and 18 days) since he was forced out of the country against valid active court orders
