Uhuru to Appoint Rejected Judges Within 14 Days Altimutum

Thursday, October 21, 2021 –President Uhuru Kenyatta has suffered another major blow after High Court today ordered an immediate appointment of the remaining six judges.

The six members of the bench were left out during the latest appointments which were carried out by the head of State on June 3, 2021.

In the orders seen by Homenews.co.ke, Uhuru has to appoint the six within an ultimatum period of two weeks failure to which they will resume duty automatically.

Uhuru’s powers to appoint the judges will be declared over after the 14 days which will mean that the Chief Justice and the Judicial Service Commission can execute the role. This is as per the ruling delivered today by the High Court in Nairobi.

It’s now obvious that the cornered Kenyatta will have no option but to bend over to the ruling or leave the role in the hands of Chief justice Martha Koome.

The three-judge bench which presided over the hearing found the president guilty of going against the Constitution by not appointing the said judges as was presented in the JSC list.

The judges in question are George Odunga, Prof Joel Njagi, Weldon Korir, Justice Aggrey Muchelule who will assume duty by the lapse of the 14 days issued by the ruling court.

Judges who ruled on this case are Justice George Nduru, William Musyoka and James Wakiaga who stated that the president was supposed to appoint all the judges as presented to him without deductions or additionals.

It is now apparent that the president is nolonger in good books with the Judiciary wing of government if the many court cases he has lost is anything to go by.

This is happening amid plans by the former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga to travel to Canada with an aim of bringing with him the deported Lawyer Miguna Miguna.

Just recently, Uhuru’s Huduma Namba project was also dealt a blow when the court established that it was unconstitutional same to the Building Bridges Initiative BBI.
