Sunday, October 24, 2021 –Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has detailed reasons she doesn’t want to be anyone’s running mate in 2022.
Speaking in her home county in Kerugoya on Saturday October 23, Ms Karua clarified that being someone’s running mate requires an extra-ordinary patience and what she is not ready to do for now.
She added that it was very easy to lose if she started waiting for someone to have mercy on her so that she can become his running mate in 2022 since this is a position that requires too much lobbying.
“You can vie for a Deputy President’s seat, you’ll have to float in the air until May next year awaiting a candidate to have mercy on you,” Karua said.
The party leader also made it clear that neither Ruto nor Raila had approached her for the position and therefore all were lies flying out there.
“I have said that I am only vying here for the gubernatorial seat, then you should believe me and stop asking around.
“I can tell you standing here, no one has asked me to be his deputy,” Karua added
She seized the opportunity to hit out at both Governor Anne Waiguru and Woman Representative Purity Ngiurici for pressuring her to go for a higher office rather than vying for the gubernatorial position.
Ms Karua defended her stand saying that she was focused on serving her Kirinyaga people and not becoming a running mate for anybody.
“I resigned as a minister and not an MP. I finished my term as a lawmaker and went ahead to represent my people in Parliament. I was roaring like a lioness in that assembly,” she insisted.
Karua, just like MP Moses Kuria and Mwangi Kiunjuri, has her party which she wants to use in 2022 either through an unconditional merger or separately.
