Friday, October 29, 2021 –There is a reported cold war in One Kenya Alliance OKA as top leadership differ on who should be the flag bearer in 2022.
The alliance brought together by Musalia Mudavadi from ANC, Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper Party, Moses Wetang’ula of Ford Kenya and Gideon Moi of KANU is reportedly in turmoil over who should lead the rest.
Daily Nation has established that Kalonzo and Mudavadi are embroiled in a bitter clash for OKAs presidential ticket. Musalia is under pressure to fly the flag same to Kalonzo who feels is the most suitable and senior most to carry the mantle.
The cold war, according to well-placed sources, now threatens to tear apart the camp into units despite having threatened to go full circle this elections period.
OKA was formed in Nairobi on March 25 at an event that was held at Nairobi’s Serena Hotel and attended by all the four opposition politicians. They claimed this was the alternative for the country after Uhuru leaves office.
And in July this year, Kalonzo was on record insisting that he won’t be a flower girl to anyone anymore after playing that running mate role for Raila twice both in 2013 and 2017 in a contest they lost to Jubilee party.
“Let’s be focused this time, and I am going to be a presidential candidate in the 2022 General Election. I do not want to be a peacemaker anymore. I will no longer be considered a weak candidate this time for the sake of peace,” he said.
Kalonzo now believes he has what it takes to run a country having served in the capacity of a vice president in the Mwai Kibaki ara. Mudavadi on the other hand, believes in the narrative that he is the most suitable and acceptable candidate across all communities than Kalonzo and Raila.
Details indicate that Mudavadi has already reserved a name Kenya Kwanza with the registrar of political parties which he wants to invite others.
His team also do not trust Kalonzo whom they claim is just buying time as he secretly plans to bolt out and join hands with Raila as usual.
