Sunday, October 31, 2021 –Gatundu Legislator Moses Kuria has taken a swipe at President Uhuru Kenyatta over plans to handpick his successor.
Through a long Facebook post on Saturday October 30, the vocal MP advised the Head of State to stop meddling into the 2022 succession plans because he has had his sweet time of running the country for two full terms.
The MP addressed the president through a video recording dubbed ‘We Soldier On’ in which he warned Kenyatta against imposing any candidate to the people of this country.
“Some things can never be, for example, trying to make Raila president, impossible work. You are better off crushing stones in a quarry,” Kuria stated.
In the thin-veiled attack, Kuria added that every president must respect the will of the people just like ex-president Mwai Kibaki did when he was leaving power after his two terms.
“When someone leaves Mombasa for Nairobi aboard a plane, when he or she gets to Nairobi, they get their luggage and go home, they do not start asking where next the plain would be going,” Kuria stated.
In the statement, the lawmaker advised all presidential aspirants to be ready for a Mt Kenya political party or parties because they form a majority in the country.
“We have already shown a big gesture by supporting someone who is not from out tribe for the top seat for the first time in 30 years. So when we organize ourselves, let no one call us tribal,” he added.
Just a couple of days ago, Kuria was on record announcing the outcome of an opinion poll conducted by his Chama cha Kazi Party that had put Raila Odinga ahead of the rest.
