Saturday, November 6, 2021 –Kakamega High School Principal Gerald Orina has broken silence following the mysterious fire which razed two main school dormitories today morning.

Addressing media on Sunday November 6, the principal disclosed that the fire was first spotted at 6AM when all learners had already left for their morning classes.

“Today morning at 5.45 Am, immediately after the boarding master and teacher on duty put the students in class, we saw some fire from the dormitory,” Orina said.

Education Cs Prof George Magoha.

He confirmed that there was no fatality reported and that the students were calm at the school only that items of unknown value had been reduced to ashes.

“All the students are in school and nobody has been injured. I, therefore urge the parents to be calm as we go through this,” Orina added.

Orina did not apportion any blame to anyone when prompted to speak about the cause of the inferno. He instead said investigations had commenced to that effect.

Police department from Kakamega led by Commander Daniel Mutisya said the school principal had made a report to them.

“We received a report from the principal that one of the dormitories has caught fire. Upon arriving at the school, we established that two dorms were on fire. We called for help from the county’s fire department who responded in time and helped us put off the fire,” the police boss stated.

A section of parents immediately rushed to the school to confirm the safety of their children and reported that no injuries had occurred in the inferno.

Currently, the Ministry of Education has been shutting down schools which have experienced the mysterious fires around the country.
