Thursday, November 18, 2021 –Deputy President William Ruto’s tour in Central part of the country has started facing an un expected repulsion following his recent remarks against Governors Kiraitu Murungi and James Nyoro.
In his Thursday November 18 tour in Tharaka Nithi, the second in command who was accompanied by a score of local leaders from the area encountered a hostile reception with residents shouting Raila Odinga slogans infront of them.
“The residents of Chuka, Tharaka Nithi County agree that the priority for Kenya is the economic liberation of ordinary Kenyans and especially young people and that we will walk this journey together,” Ruto stated.
As MP Kithure Kindiki was struggling to address the crowds, the charged residents endlessly shouted him down and interrupted the entire session forcing the politician to mention Raila Odinga’s name in his efforts to calm the rising storm.
The interruptions went on for almost 15 minutes forcing the DP and his crew to take off to the next stopover.
The events today have since been attributed to the recent unsavory remarks Ruto made against area governors who are supporting Raila Odinga presidential course.
Ruto was heard rubbishing the leadership in particular Governor James Nyoro and in Meru Kiraitu Murungi whom he described as traitors and directed them to tore the line if they wanted to survive politically.
The DP would also argue that Raila was being supported by many governors because they don’t want to be haunted by EACC ghosts for wrongs they have committed while in office.
The statement would shortly receive a heavy backlash from Mt Kenya leaders who claimed the DP was now crossing the red-line.
Present were Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, MPs John Muchiri (Manyatta), Geoffrey King’ang’i (Mbeere South), Muriuki Njagagua (Mbeere North), Eric Muchangi (Runyenjes), Rigathi Gachagua(Mathirta) among others.
