Friday, November 19, 2021 –Mother to Sharon Otieno has defended her decision to join politics through same party with Migori Governor Okoth Obado.
In an interview with Nation Africa, mother to the slain Rongo University student noted that she couldn’t work with Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party because they betrayed her at the hour of need.
In her long narration, a vengeful Melinda Auma argued that her people had piled pressure on her to vie for a ward representative position through ODM Party but she told them she cannot allow herself to work with ODM leaders for obvious reasons.
“My joining of politics was not my personal decision. The people from West Ward are the ones who decided, and they had been pressuring me for a long time to go for the MCA position.
“I told them that I am not ready because I still have a case in court, but they insisted that they were going to elect me either way and the case will still progress,” she stated.
Melinda discussed how a number of ODM Party officials had disappointed her at the peak of Sharon’s murder case.
“ ODM people had done wrong things to me, so I could not be part of that team,” she said.
She claimed she had joined the Ruto-linked United Democratic Alliance UDA Party after lengthy deliberations on the pros and cons.
Asked to explain how she would work with a man(Obado) she accused of murdering her daughter, Sharon’s mother said when she was joining UDA she didn’t know Obado was be part of it and added that whatever the case, justice for her daughter will still come to pass.
