UK Military Vehicles Missing at Nanyuki Base

Monday, November 22, 2021 –Two military vehicles have been confirmed mising at the British Army Training Unit BATUK camp based in Nanyuki, Laikipia County.

This was noticed during an unplanned audit of the machines at the heavily armored camp where now police have launched investigations to nail whoever could be behind the fraud.

Speaking on the matter, BATUK Spokesman Daniel Johnson confirmed the loss and said they have joined hands with Kenyan detectives to unravel the truth.

“The theft of the two vehicles from the BATUK is under investigation,” Johnson spoke to the media.

Currently, plain-clothed officers are working day and nights around Nanyuki town and its environs with an aim of piecing together any clue that could lead arrests and recovery. They have targeted mainly mechanics, scrap metal dealers and hardware in the area.

Already, a stern warning has been issued to anyone who could have been part of the theft to surrender to police because when found he/ she will be subjected to the full force of law.

The Kenyan government and their British counterparts for many years have been training together in a deal that saw the two choose Nanyuki area due to its favorable training whether.

Records indicate that UK Invests upto sh 1.16 billion annually in the deal where over 1,100 Kenyan soldiers benefit in trainings before they are dispatched to Somalia and other peace keeping missions around the world.
