Sunday, November 28, 2021 –Opposition politician Kalonzo Musyoka has come to the defense of Director of Criminal Investigation DCI George Kinoti.

Speaking in a Sunday November 28 church function attended by businessman Jimi Wanjigi at AIC Daystar in Machakos County, Wiper Party boss Kalonzo Musyoka reached out to Mr. Wanjigi advising him to spare Mr. Kinoti from prosecution over the firearm standoff.

The ex-Vice President who was with Wanjigi volunteered to mediate between the two so that they could settle their differences out of courts.

He defended Kinoti as an excellent investigative officer who had demonstrated true spirit of a dedicated servant to the people of Kenya.

“Helloo..I want to ask you one thing Jimi. There is one man named Kinoti who has helped in arresting thieves. I know his matter is in court because you want to commit him to jail.

“Kinoti is just a faithful servant of this republic executing his duty so I would like to intervene. You know that I am an arbitrator, I will call you with Kinoti so that you can forgive each other so that he can continue with his work,” Kalonzo remarked.

He went on to advise the tycoon that fighting with Kinoti will taint his image as a presidential aspirant who wants to lead this nation.

He told Wanjigi that for one to become a head of State, he must be ready to be tolerant and easy to change depending on the circumstances.

“Let us talk about this. You know you are going for the presidency and if you want to rescue the country, you have to have a forgiving heart,” Kalonzo advised.

Justice Antony Mrima found DCI boss Kinoti guilty of contempt of court for failing to return guns belonging to the businessman; what triggered a four-months jail term sentence.

And on November 24, Judge Mrima declined to suspend the jail term even after Attorney General Paul Kihara made an application at the High Court requesting for the suspension.
