Monday, November 29, 2021 –Locals from Nandi Hills Constituency have reportedly fund-raised a whopping sh 1.6M to help unseat the incumbent Alfred Keter.
In a report doing rounds on mainstream media, the locals have picked a young man – Wesley Kogo – to vie against Keter in a bid to elbow him out of power.
Kogo now 30 has been reluctant in picking this fight for lack of financial manpower but pressure and persistence from locals has finally seen him bow to their pressure.
“I knew I would be a leader but not this soon. I just graduated from the university and wanted to focus on my career. The idea of politics was not in my mind. However, the elders and residents have promised to support me and have already raised some money to jump-start my campaigns,” Kogo said.
He couldn’t believe that hundreds of locals had shown up in his funds drive and contributed generously towards the campaign kitty.
“To my surprise, hundreds of residents turned up and generously contributed towards my campaigns. They promised to continue supporting me. Those who did not have money brought agricultural produce which was very refreshing for me because it demonstrated their commitment to this course,” he revealed to the Standard.
He said his main aim is to help solve the many challenges still facing fellow locals and promised never to let them down during his tenure.
However, it was not clear if he will be vying on William Ruto’s UDA Party or any other now that MP Alfred Keter has not been in good terms with the second in command.
