Tuesday, November 30, 2021 –Deliberations on locking down the country once more are ongoing and Kenyans could find themselves back to where they have come from.

In the meeting, CS Kagwe introduced the topic of the new Omicron Virus variant which has been traced in South Africa.

This may see the country taken back to nationwide curfews and lockdowns despite the fact that everybody is preparing to enjoy their Christmas after two years of pandemic.

“I cannot tell before the National Emergency Response Committee NERC meeting,” Kagwe told the Business Daily on Monday, November 29 after their crisis meeting.

He however said the country must be ready to consume whatever NERC deliberations will have decided.

Currently, all passengers from South Africa are being subjected to quarantine and have to undergo repeated testing due to the new variant in that country.

“Our National Public Health Emergency Operation Centre is still fully activated to facilitate coordination of response to the pandemic. Stand-by trained Rapid Response Teams at both national, county and sub-county levels are on high alert for immediate investigative deployment,” the acting Director General for Health Dr, Patrick Amoth stated.

Uhuru lifted the curfew on Wednesday October 20 during the marking of his final Mashujaa Day held in Kirinyaga County. This move breathed a sigh of relief across the country as businesses and activities started resuming normalcy.
