Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party leader Raila Amollo Odinga has reacted on why he had to meet with Deputy President William Ruto, after along time, at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.
Odinga took to his twitter account to explain that sports is a major unifying factor in the world and therefore everyone who cared attended the event as a Kenyan devoid of their political affiliations or tribe.
Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto have been throwing political punches at each other and for some time now they have not been able to meet until Saturday at the Kip Keino Classic Marathon.
As if they had tipped each, the duo appeared at the venue donning same caps designed with a Kenyan flag and, interestingly, cheered the event together and could regularly be seen conversing; a gesture that left many Kenyans not only happy but also surprised.
And on his twitter, Mr. Raila Odinga commented that sports stand tall in not only entertaining people but also as a source of togetherness for the nation.
“Major sporting events remain a source of wholesome entertainment and bring Kenyans together patriotically. Our athletes are exemplary brand ambassadors for which we, as a people, are grateful, asanteni sana. I was delighted to join fans,” Odinga captioned his photos with Ruto.
Ruto on his part, attended the event during the morning before flying to Nakuru County where he had a meeting with Turkana leaders and politicians.
Also present at Nyayo Stadium was Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko, Josephat Nanok of Turkana and Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Margret.
Organizers of the Saturday October 3rd event said that the World Athletics Continental Tour would be the last in a 10-series one day meeting held across the globe.
