Ruto Camp say Azimio is Another Version of BBI

Saturday, December 11, 2021 –United Democratic Alliance politicians were not happy with Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja Friday convention held at Kasarani.

Deputy President William Ruto and his camp are now accusing Raila of selling politics of division through State funded meetings; what they now think will erode country’s unity.

“You cannot talk about the unity of a nation when you are actively dividing the country along ethnic lines. It’s a contradiction; it’s deceitful for anybody to tell us this is the way to unite Kenyans,” Ruto stated.

Ruto defended his UDA outfit which he said was purposely created to change the political narrative of the country from politics of deceit to policy-oriented.

“As UDA, we believe we have a national political party that brings communities together. We challenge our competitors to be honest to the people, you cannot preach water and drink wine,” Ruto added.

His ally Kipchumba Murkomen added that the Azimio la Umoja meeting at Kasarani was purely meant to sideline Ruto just like the Building Bridges Initiative BBI before it collapsed under its own weight.

“In President Kenyatta’s scheme of things Azimio La Raila just like its predecessor Handshake/BBI was supposed to include everybody and isolate the DP. Unfortunately, it ended up excluding everybody and isolating Raila Odinga,” Murkomen stated.

Same sentiments were shared by Jubilee nominated Senator Millicent Omanga who took issue with the ODM Party boss. She argued that Raila will not see numbers in the next elections despite having a direct support from government.

“At the end of the day, the hype and braggadocio is over. Back to citizens. Don’t be wowed by the presentation, pomp, and colour. The elephant in the room is, in whose hands are you safe? We all know the answer,” Omanga stated.

On his part, new recruit economist David Ndii laughed off the Odinga event which he termed a complete sham.

The event saw Mr. Odinga make a long awaited declaration of vying in the next polls scheduled 8 months away. He also laid down his 10-point agenda which included Inua Jamii, Pesa mfukoni among others.

Government officials including key cabinet secretaries – Eugene Wamalwa, Joe Mucheru, John Munyes, Peter Munya among others were also present.
