Saturday, December 25, 2021 –United Democratic Alliance UDA members from the Coastal Region are now accusing Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa of being overprotective on DP William Ruto.
Revealing this on Friday December 24, the more than 100 UDA aspirants said MP Jumwa was hiding Ruto from them and still could not solve their concerns.
The members argued that the unbecoming behavior was now denying UDA enough support and could even become worse if this is not corrected early in time.
Kilifi County Senatorial aspirant Caroline Chilango explained that a party cannot be led through mischief and selfishness which they are currently witnessing in Mombasa.
“Though we support Ruto, how the leaders in Kilifi County are running the party is making it difficult. There are those who would like to join the party but they are facing challenges.
“Aspirants have left the party and gone to other parties because of the problems within the party. Therefore, we must address these issues so that we can plan how we will run the campaigns of the UDA party,” she stated.
She also took the opportunity with media to claim that Jumwa was not of any good to the DP because her conduct within UDA was wanting and misleading. She called upon UDA leadership to convene an urgent meeting so that this issue can be resolved before they make a final decision.
“We have tried our best but we are finding challenges in accessing our party leader. If things continue like this then we will reconsider because many people have left the party. There has been a mass exodus of people,” she asserted.
This is another blow to Ruto’s party just days after another incidence occurred leading to a brutal attack to one aspirant Mohamed Tenge. This forced the DP to call for a crisis meeting to look into the matter and how UDA Party affairs are done in the area.
