Thursday, January 6, 2022 –For the first time in history, Kirinyaga Woman Representative, Purity Wangui Ngirici, sent a happy Birth day message to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader, Raila Odinga.
On Thursday December 6 morning, Ms Ngrici shocked everyone when she willingly shared an early morning birthday message to Raila Odinga in a move that saw many online users give their views on what might be cooking ahead of 2022 race.
Whether she was indirectly saying she is joining Azimio la Umoja or not, only time will tell, as she has already packed her belongings from Ruto’s UDA Party.
“Happy 77th Birthday Jakom,” Ngirici captioned a picture of Raila Odinga on her Facebook timeline.
She exited UDA Party after she fell out with boss William Ruto whom she described as betrayer following the entrance of her fierce rival Governor Anne Waiguru.
Ngirici wanted to use UDA Party to edge out Waiguru but along the way she had to quit the party before she announced that she will be vying independently.
“Leaders attract followers, they don’t follow them. They attract them. I will be vying for the Kirinyaga County governor seat in the next year’s General Election independently. I would also like to remind those individuals joining different parties that the people of Kirinyaga will elect the person and not the party,” Ngirici said a few weeks ago.
Of late Ruto has had frosty relationships with a section of leaders from Mt Kenya who have refused to fold their parties for UDA.
The DP wants anyone with a party to first fold it before joining his growing UDA Party which he has severally described as a ‘national outfit’.
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, former Gichuki MP Martha Karua, ex-CS Mwangi Kiunjuri and former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo have maintained that they will have their parties intact beyond 2022.
