Wednesday, January 12, 2022 –Law Society of Kenya LSK President Nelson Havi has been replaced by Lawyer Linda Kiome.
The Mt Kenya Branch Caucus Chairperson Linda will be taking over roles initially played by Havi following a recent court order. The caucus will run the affairs of the body until March this year when their elections will take place.
High Court in Nairobi ordered that LSK CEO Nancy Wambua and her fellow council members be back into office, convene a meeting with Havi and within 21 days have a solution on the impasse affecting operations at LSK failure to which the caucus will take mandate.
“If council remains dysfunctional and not able to conduct business, the Chairs Caucus shall take over the functions of the council with the Chair of the Branch exercising powers of the president of LSK for the remainder of the term,” Justice Mrima ordered.
And speaking to the media, Mr. Havi defended that time to be out of office was nigh as he prepares to become next Member of Parliament for Westlands.
“In American setting I would say I have been converted into a lame duck president,” Havi told Citizen Tv on Tuesday during News Night live show.
The ex-LSK President is already in the Hustler camp which he wants to use to vie for the parliamentary seat.
Havi has however promised to issue a comprehensive statement on his relationship with LSK and plans to go into politics.
Caucus leadership had to take over after hei failed to bring parties together for a meeting.
