Feisal Abdallah Bader, the DP William Ruto’s candidate for Msambweni, had a difficult time holding his campaign rally after heavily armed police disrupted his plans following new regulations announced by Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua.
In its efforts to control political heat in the country, government announced a raft of measures including early notifications from anyone planning to hold a political rally anywhere in the country.
The measures were informed by the recent skirmishes witnessed in Murang’a County where two persons were killed as rival groups traded blows.
Government National Security Advisory Council NSAC proposed that politicians must provide a 3 day early notice before holding any rally. They must also adhere to Covid-19 protocols.
Pulselive on Friday October 9th reported how GSU officers flooded the Msambweni venue where DP Ruto’s candidate Feisal Abdallah Bader had planned to hold his first rally.
The police blocked all roads leading to the venue where the Deputy President was also supposed to be present alongside his top allies former Kakamega County lawmaker Boni Khalwale, MP Kimani Ichungwah, former Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama among others.
The group had already touched down through a chopper ready to start shaking the ground with their well-oiled machinery.
Sources from Deputy President’s inner circles hinted that this was going to be a mega rally to set the stage for a battle of titans in the Msambweni race that was left vacant following the demise of MP Suleiman Dori of Orange Democratic Movement Party ODM,
Ruto, after his Jubilee Party stepped down for ODM, switched to supporting an independent Abdallah Bader whom he said will easily flaw ODM’s candidate.
Just a few days ago Ruto,s rally with bodaboda operators in Nyamira Kisii was also disrupted by police who cited breach of government orders.
The DP had to go on his twitter account with a long statement on postponement of the meeting to a later date.
