Tuesday, January 25, 2022 –First time Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru has told Deputy President William Ruto to never betray Mt Kenya Region by picking his running mate from elsewhere.
Reacting over the entry of Amani National Congress ANC Party boss Musalia Mudavadi into their camp, Anne mentioned that the running mate position must still be reserved for one of them and not Musalia nor any other person.
Addressing media on Tuesday January 25, Governor Waiguru said the current agreement between DP Ruto and the Kikuyu nation is that he must get his assistant from the ‘Mountain’ and that there should be no negotiations on this.
“The issue of where does the running mate come from, the agreement so far has been that the person will come from the Mt. Kenya region,” Waiguru said.
Waiguru’s concerns are coming at a time ANC and UDA came together last Sunday January 23 in what was described as an ‘earthquake event’. Ruto and Musalia would promise their troupes that they will be remaining together for the sake of August 9, 2022 polls.
Outrage from a section of UDA-allied politicians from Mt Kenya, is purely informed by the fact that there is no way Ruto will skip Mudavadi who is a senior politician in the country and pick someone from Mt Kenya. Most are therefore reading this as a looming betrayal.
