Saturday, February 5, 2022 –President Uhuru Kenyatta has promised to bankroll campaigns for his allies from Mt Kenya Region.
Speaking during their Jubilee Party Parliamentary Group Meeting held at State House on Friday February 4, Uhuru told his loyal allies that he will be there throughout the campaign period to ensure they win back their positions.
A source who was part of the meeting divulged anonymously that their party leader promised to ensure they have enough resources in their campaigns.
Uhuru also assured them that Jubilee Party will not fade away just because a few individuals had decided to leave.
“He told us that he is not a mean person and that he is willing to facilitate our campaigns. But this will only apply to those who secure the party ticket after the nominations,” the source, who is a serving Member of Parliament, told media.
The same source lauded the president for showing them direction after most of them had started losing hope following their wrangles with DP William Ruto.
“The President is a very good man, he promised to also help us with our campaigns and join us where he can,” the source added.
In the PG, the delegates all agreed to retain President Uhuru Kenyatta as their party leader beyond August 9th elections so as to stabilize the party before finally quitting.
Among the MPs who had started showing signs of ditching the party citing lack of leadership is Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege and Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu who, sadly, has not been so active in latest activities of Azimio la Umoja.
Jubilee Party as a whole has since promised to support Raila Odinga’s presidency who, in reciprocation, will allow them to propose for him a running mate.
