Sunday, February 6, 2022 –A Jubilee Member of Parliament has defected to United Democratic Alliance UDA Party just days after holding a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta at Statehouse.
MP for Molo Kuria Kimani defected to Ruto’s UDA Party barely days after Jubilee remnants held a Parliamentary Group meeting presided over by party leader Uhuru Kenyatta. The PG was held on Friday, February 4.
The MP, on Sunday February 6 morning, took to his Twitter handle to make the announcement saying he will be seeking his re-election on the UDA Party ticket.
“I have served my Jubilee Party diligently. As I look forward to serve the people of Molo as their Member of Parliament for another term.
“I will be seeking this mandate through United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and I was received by Deputy President William Ruto this morning,” the first time MP stated.
Kimani argued that this move had been informed by the fact that he fully ascribes to the Ruto’s economic revolution model dubbed ‘Bottom Up’.
“The party is UDA and the formation is the hustler nation. Our economic plan is the Bottom Up economic model,” he added.
While defecting, he was received by Deputy President William Ruto at his official residence in Karen Nairobi. Also present was Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, and Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki.
They have all thanked the lawmaker for seeing light in their party saying many will be joining them in few days to come.
In their Friday meeting with Mr. Kenyatta, it was revealed that the president who is also the Jubilee Party boss promised to support their campaigns to make sure they win elections in the August polls.
