Monday, February 14, 2022 –The president has flown out of the country for a three day tour in Dubai. Statehouse has confirmed.
Apart from holding diplomatic talks with his Dubai counterparts, Uhuru Kenyatta is also expected to hold a high level business forum as well as preside over the a Kenyan Expo-2020 in the Gulf country.
“The purpose of the President coming here is to showcase business and investment opportunities that are available in Kenya. And there are quite a number of them mostly in the investment areas.
“Those opportunities need to be made known not only to the UAE investors but also other investors in the world, we have actually invited a number of them among the 192 countries participating in the Expo 2020 Dubai,” a statement from Amb. Kariuki Mugwe stated.
The talks will have to strengthen the relationship between Kenya and the Gulf nation as far as trade practices are concerned.
Moreover, the tour will address some of the post Covid-19 challenges between the two countries and establish how this could be sustained with trade un-interrupted.
“Our two countries cooperate in many areas of mutual interests both at the bilateral and multilateral levels. It is expected that there will be investment opportunities that will be secured by the engagements that will be undertaken while His Excellency the President is in the UAE,” the Ambassador also said.
In another statement from Consul General of Kenya to Dubai and Northern Emirates Amb Peter Mwendwa, Uhuru’s tour was long overdue and thanked him to agree to make a physical appearance in the expo.
