Friday, February 25, 2022 –Opposition leader Raila Odinga has lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta for keeping his word over their March 2018 Handshake.
Addressing hundreds of Orange Party delegates during their Party National Governing Council meeting held at Bomas of Kenya today, Mr. Odinga refuted claims that Uhuru was plotting to abandon him middle way.
He recounted how some of his allies were hesitant in accepting the Handshake thinking the State would play him but he assured them that Kenyatta would not break the covenant as agreed on the steps of Harambee House. He noted that his agreement with Kenyatta was now almost maturing.
“Wengine walisema ati Uhuru is cheating you and I told them no I know what I am doing because I have a state man’s covenant with the president,” he said.
He also thanked the president for leading the nation to the right direction despite hurdles in his government including runaway corruption perpetuated by top State officials.
The ODM Party boss promised to maintain Uhuru’s legacy when he takes office from August 9th after the next general elections.
The Azimio la Umoja founder urged other parties willing to join his Azimio bandwagon to do so, so that they can together make this journey a success.
He was speaking this during their Party National Governing Council meeting held in Nairobi today Friday February 25.
