Thursday, March 17, 2022 –Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to leave them alone after he endorsed Raila Odinga for the top seat.
Reacting shortly after viral news emerged that the head of State had invited all Jubilee leaders at Statehouse on Friday March 18, Kuria rubbished such a meeting saying they cannot honour a meeting they have been waiting for all this time without success.
He added that since 2017, Uhuru refused to plan any Parliamentary Group PG meeting and planning any today will not be honored by many of them who now believe in the Hustler Nation.
“Mt Kenya leaders have been waiting for a proper sit down for four years. To call them 143 days before the election and when you have already declared yourself the campaign manager for Kitendawili is contemptuous. With the utmost respect and deep regret, just let us be,” he stated.
Though the Statehouse through its Spokesperson Kanze Dena distanced itself from such a meeting describing it as fake, Speaking on Citizen TV morning show, Kiambu Senator, Kimani Wamatangi, confirmed receiving a text message with regard to the Friday meeting.
“The text for purposes of clarity is very clearly worded. It invites elected leaders from the Mount Kenya region, from Senators to governors to members of the county assembly, those are the invitees,” Wamatangi stated.
More reports now state that the meeting had been rescheduled to take place at a later date though more details about it are still not yet out.
A Mount Kenya leader allied to Ruto reportedly updated that the cancellation was purely informed by consultations that had been done between the Head of State and other leaders.
“After wide consultations, I have deferred the meeting that was scheduled for Friday, March 18, at Statehouse Nairobi… to a later date, which will be communicated to you, in due course.
“The text for purposes of clarity is very clearly worded. It invites elected leaders from the Mount Kenya region, from Senators to governors to members of the county assembly, those are the invitees,” read the text message to the Mt Kenya leaders.
Upon receiving the invitation to the meeting, many other leaders now leaning towards made it clear that they will not be attending it, anyway.
