Monday, March 21, 2022 –Raila Odinga’s presidential campaign spokesman Prof Makau Mutua has said Kalonzo Musyoka’s open unrest is informed by the fact that he is trying to find his space in the Azimio la Umoja.
Addressing the Wiper Party boss’ continuous rants on mainstream media, Mutua said nothing was strange since Kalonzo was only trying to find his footing in the new team.
“Kalonzo knows what’s at stake in this country at the General Election. What’s happening with Musyoka is that he’s trying to find his positioning within the Azimio la Umoja movement and that’s okay,” he noted.
He also said it is only Azimio la Umoja camp, that has an easy time of choosing a running mate, unlike Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza where it may cost them.
“I think for Azimio la umoja we don’t think the choice of a running mate is going to be the turning point of our campaign. We are very happy with where we are as you see in the polls. We have flexibility on our side as opposed to our competitors,” Mutua stated.
Mutua was speaking this on a live TV interview on Sunday, March 20, where he also said Ruto was using a lot of resources campaigning in the Mountain what therefore means he wants to please Mudavadi and the same time maintain a grip on the mountain.
As Raila grapples with picking a running mate for his bid, Ruto has his big challenge ahead; a puzzle that will require weeks of soul-searching.
