In his address to the media, Kalonzo Musyoka said Azimio was a big umbrella that now requires experienced minds like Mr. Tuju to make sure everything goes on well in their primaries. He argued that Tuju and his team will mark where zoning will be necessary and where it will not be important.

Kalonzo also reasoned that this process will make sure that there are reduced fall-outs during nominations period.

“We have nominated Raphael Tuju to sit as the chair of the committee and he will be assisted by various political parties’ Secretary Generals,” the former Vice President stated.

The coalition is also prepared to have only one candidate in some areas to face-off with Kenya Kwanza Alliance canddates. This is to ensure William Ruto’s chances of winning seats around the country are reduced to minimum.

“If all the parties field candidates in some areas, we give advantage to somebody else. These are matters of strategy and we are going to look into all this,” he stated.

Tuju will now be required to be very keen in making sure areas like Nairobi where their affiliate parties are bloated do not cause internal friction for the benefit of the entire coalition.

Sources told Homenews.co.ke that Odinga is very cautious this time around not to repeat the same mistakes he has had in the past that coasted his dream to become president. He has decided to sacrifice some seats for the sake of winning the August 9 polls.
