Friday, April 22, 2022 –Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has today Friday April 22 departed to the US for a one week long tour.
The Azimio coalition leader was spotted leaving to the airport some minutes past noon and he is expected in Washington DC early tomorrow.
“Party leader Raila Odinga this afternoon departed for the US for a one-week official visit. We wish our Party Leader and his entourage safe skies,” the ODM party updated.
He left shortly after unveiling the new lineup for the Nairobi County competition where Polycarp Igathe was finally picked to carry the Azimio coalition flag as Tim Wanyonyi was send back to defend his Westlands parliamentary seat.
Raila, according to his handlers, will tour technology savvy personalities at Silicon Valley, San Francisco so as to launch innovation ties between Kenya and the US.
“Raila will outline his vision for Kenya, underline the importance of the strategic and historic US/Kenya relationship and the vital interests that the two counties share in the region,” Makau Mutua, the official Azimio spokesperson revealed.
In his company is Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua, Governors Wycliffe Oparanya of Kakamega, Nderitu Muriithi(Laikipia) and James Ongwae.
Homenews.co.ke also learnt later on that in the entourage are former Kenyan Envoy to US Elkanah Odembo, Homa Bay County Senator Moses Kajwang’ and Kathiani MP Robert Mbui.
The tour will also see Mr. Odinga and his team meet Kenyans in the diaspora.
