Wednesday, April 27, 2022 –Nairobi Governor Anne Kananu has bowed out of Nairobi gubernatorial race to support Azimio la Umoja candidate, Polycarp Igathe.
In their City Hall boardroom meeting held today Wednesday April 27, Ms Kananu openly endorsed the candidature of Igathe for the Nairobi seat.
She described the corporate guru as a man who has what it takes to run a big city like Nairobi and promised to join his campaigns going forward.
“I want to tell all Nairobians that you are safe under Igathe. Those in Azimio thinking of going independent, that won’t help us,” Kananu announced.
“Campaign tutaenda pamoja na mashinani tutaingia pamoja…Mahali tumebakisha na NMS tutakamilisha na Igathe,” she added.
The outgoing governor urged anybody who didn’t make it past nominations to remain in Azimio so that to make the journey successful for everyone.
Mr. Igathe was unveiled as the joint candidate for the Raila Odinga-led alliance last week and will be deputised by Wiper’s former Kibwezi MP Prof. Philip Kaloki.
Earlier in the months, business man Richard Ngatia and Westlands member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi were also pressured to put aside their gubernatorial ambitions with hopes that once Azimio takes over the leadership of the country, they will be among those to be awarded with plum positions.
