Friday, April 29, 2022 –Wiper Party boss fronted politician Mike Sonko to vie in Mombasa County by force following aborted talks with Mr. Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta.
A source speaking to Homenews.co.ke on Friday April 29 morning, divulged worrying situation in Azimio-One Kenya coalition where Kalonzo is reported to be blackmailing both President Uhuru and Raila Odinga ahead of the August 9 race.
An insider has said that when Kalonzo managed bulldozing Raila to change Azimio name to Azimio –One Kenya coalition, he immediately embarked on pushing for other demands and anytime he was not heard he threatened to walk out. For instance, the Wiper Party boss demanded that Nairobi be left for Mike Sonko deputized by Prof. Philip Kaloki but President Uhuru Kenyatta stamped his feet down with Igathe as his preferred Azimio candidate.
Uhuru’s Jubilee Party remained firm that they are supporting Raila on the grounds that he rallies his Nairobi supporters behind a Jubilee candidate, Igathe.
That far, Kalonzo Musyoka then resorted to threatening to front Prof. Philip Kaloki to vie for the seat by force or by fire.
A meeting would be convened mid-April in Nairobi State house and which was attended by top leaders in the coalition so that to resolve the impasse.
However, in the meeting Kalonzo again asked if he was going to be picked as Raila’s running mate but the topic could not go far before he brought Nairobi gubernatorial topic back to the table. He asked Raila and Uhuru why they were not willing to support the Sonko-Kaloki pair for Nairobi contest.
Kalonzo is then said to have threatened to go forward with having candidates in Nairobi County if his wishes were not being admitted. Uhuru rejected the proposal saying Nairobi had already been reserved for his Jubilee Party.
And when Kalonzo saw that what he wanted was not being listened to, he then went ahead and asked Mike Sonko to run for Mombasa governor’s seat so that to face off with Odinga’s Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir; and again forced his ally Kaloki to be Igathe’s deputy in Nairobi.
“I think the media will remember my strong words when we said that we are giving them Kaloki and if they joke around, we shall put him on the ballot,” Kalonzo chest thumped recently after Igathe-Kaloki’s endorsement in Nairobi.
Sadly, this saw both Westland’s MP Tim Wanyonyi and businessman Richard Ngatia relegated back to square one since governor and running mate positions in Nairobi County had now gone away to Jubilee and Wiper parties.
But even after all these shenanigans, the Wiper Party boss is still not satisfied and has cautioned that should Mr. Odinga not pick him for the running mate position, he will have to walk away.
