Wednesday, May 4, 2022 –Deputy President William Ruto has asked Wiper Party boss Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka not to attend the scheduled Azimio-One Kenya coalition interviews meant to determine Raila Odinga’s running mate.
In an official statement released on Wednesday May 4, the UDA Party boss wondered why would Raila Odinga have to subject his friend Kakonzo Musyoka to a humiliating interview exercise for him to be picked as the running mate.
Ruto told Mr Musyoka that whatever Azimio coalition was upto was only to undermine him and still they would not pick him for the job because this is already decided.
“Though we are competitors, to subject HE Kalonzo to some humiliating ‘interview’ is impunity. We must unite to eliminate the culture of political deceit, the hallmark of some politicians.
“Whatever the circumstances every leader deserves some dignity and respect. Heshima si utumwa,” the DP stated.
On his part, Musyoka already told Azimio that he will not be attending the interviews and that if he will not be chosen, he will review his relationship with Odinga and Uhuru.
“It will present a challenge if Raila does not pick me as his running mate. That the panel will do all manner of things, conduct scientific opinion polls but we know the winning formula and so let us not beat around the bush,” he stated.
It is evident that the Wiper Party leader and leaders from the rival Kenya Kwanza coalition are now speaking in the same terms and word has it that Musyoka is contemplating crossing over so that to join his former One Kenya Alliance OKA colleagues – Moses Wetang’ula and Musalia Mudavadi.
Kenya Kwanza leaders among them Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, Moses Wetang’ula and Johnston Muthama have already indicated their willingness to welcome Musyoka to their team.
