Sunday, May 8, 2022 –Governor Kivutha Kibwana has exposed Azimio la Umoja– One Kenya alliance presidential flagbearer over the agreement they signed.
In a Sunday May 8 social media post seen by Homenews.co,ke, the Makueni County boss questioned why Odinga was reneging on the spirit of their agreement they all agreed to adhere to.
He claimed that the fringe parties in Azimio all agreed not to zone any area but, sadly, Raila had decided to turn against the document before consulting them.
The Muungano Party leader angrily questioned why their Azimio flagbearer had started failing to respect them this early through political machinations.
In his own words, the zoning method would negatively affect smaller parties in Azimio; what is not what they agreed upon while signing the document..
Kibwana who shelved his presidential ambitions for Mr. Odinga has been complaining about the new leadership style Odinga was adopting saying this was sending a bad signal to those who had trusted him.
“You promised the 22 emerging political parties that there would be no zoning of regional enclaves. We joined Azimio upon your word and in good faith. In both CORD and NASA the so-called small parties faired badly. Let us not guillotine democracy,” the 2nd time governor reiterated.
Just like his counterpart Alfred Mutua of Maendeleo Chap Chap, Kibwana who officially endorsed Raila on February 18 observed that their parties had been blocked from fielding candidates in some strongholds what does not look so good for them.
Currently, Raila’s leadership has ratified fielding of candidates to be based on the 2017 general election; meaning other constituent parties will only be left with one or two seats to field candidates, which may be limited to Parliamentary and Members of County Assemblies (MCAs).
Odinga argues that sharing areas would deny him numbers because Kenya Kenya may capitalize on that and win in areas he would, otherwise, have won through ODM or Jubilee Party.
Governor Kivutha Kibwana, Alfred Mutua and Amason Kingi have since ganged up against Raila Odinga for failing to respect their initial agreement.
Mutua and Kingi have since moved to court in protest.
