Friday, May 13, 2022 –Wiper Party boss Kalonzo Musyoka has now threatened to go it alone if Raila Odinga will not choose him to be his running mate.
Makueni lawmaker, Daniel Maanzo, made the announcement on Friday May 13 saying their Wiper Party had already prepared enough signatures for that direction.
He also noted that already they had settled on a potential running mate who might make things very easy for the Wiper Party leader ahead of August 9 general elections.
“In the event that is not there, the law does not stop him from running. In the event Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta change their mind, we will run on our own.
“We have collected all the signatures and they are ready. On the May 16 running mate naming deadline, we cannot miss that, we have identified a suitable running mate for Kalonzo,” he stated.
He clarified that their move to match to Statehouse like Odinga and Ruto was now unstoppable and everything was set.
The MP argued that their support for Odinga was only going to fruition if Kalonzo was going to be respected to deputize him.
He also wondered why their party leader was dragged to the interviews when he had supported Raila twice without anyone subjecting him to an interview. This to them was meant to undermine Kalonzo in the eyes of his supporters countrywide.
Maanzo went on to warn that Raila may suffer a major blow should Kalonzo quit Azimio because Ukambani votes will have gone to his rival, Dr. William Ruto.
This development is coming barely a day after the Noah Wekesa-led selection panel handed Odinga 3 names to choose from.
