Monday, May 16, 2022 –Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has today appointed Andrew Leteipa Sunkuli to be his running mate ahead of August polls.
The Wiper leader officially ended his long term working relationship with Azimio la Umoja coalition presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga.
Making this announcement at Kalonzo Musyoka Command Center SKM offices Nairobi, the Wiper Democratic Party leader further revealed that he is no longer interested in Azimio politics going forward.
Kalonzo and Sunkuli will now run for the presidency independently and will face both Ruto and Raila at the ballot on 9th August 2022.
“The BIG ANOUNCEMENT: Andrew Leteipa Sunkuli is my Deputy Presidential candidate,” Kalonzo stated.
However, as Kalonzo was announcing his decision, Raila granted him a seat at the Azimio government a move that has confused most of their supporters.
It is however, not yet clear why Kalonzo could chose to dump the Raila-led coalition and settle on his own when Gideon Moi was represented at the KICC by his Secretary General Nick Salat.
“Nataka Kuwaambia kuwa kukosa msimamo ni kitu mbaya sana… Nataka kuwaambia sisi tuko hapo ndani ndani kabisa,” Salat said at KICC.
Initially, OKA umbrella comprised Amani National Congress ANC, KANU and Ford Kenya parties.
