Sunday, June 5, 2022 –Registrar of Political Parties has confirmed that both Governor Amason Kingi and his Machakos counterpart Alfred Mutua’s parties are not part of the Kenya Kwanza coalition of parties agreement.
Through an official notice issued on Sunday June 5th, the registrar disclosed that only 11 parties were in the pact presented to their office for confirmation.
Within Kenya Kwanza coalition led by Dr. William Ruto, only three founding parties – United Democratic Alliance, Amani National Congress and Ford Kenya – founded it
On the list are also Moses Kuria’s Chama cha Kazi, Communist Party of Kenya CPK, Devolution Party of Kenya DPK and Economic Freedom Party EFP.
Moreover, others are Farmers Party (FP), The Service Party (TSP) of Mwangi Kiunjuri, Tujibebe Wakenya Party (Jibebe) headed by William Kabogo and Umoja na Maendeleo Party.
“The Registrar of Political Parties gives notice to the public that the 11 political parties listed below are confirmed to be the bonafide members of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance (KKA) in accordance with the Political Parties Act, 2011,” partly read the notice.
The development now leaves behind three parties whose leadership had shifted alliance from Azimio to William Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza.
When they joined Kenya Kwanza, Dr. Mutua of Maendeleo Chap Chap and Kingi of Pamoja African Alliance PAA complained that Azimio la Umoja coalition leadership was not giving them the attention they wanted. They would then take the matter to court for redress as they parted ways with Mr. Odinga.
But since they joined KK, the two are yet to find their footing in the coalition largely dominated by UDA colours.
