Friday, June 17, 2022 –Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has said he cannot work with Rigathi Gachagua in the same team.
Addressing his supporters on Thursday June 16 in his home area, the former Kiambu boss said it was now time to review his association with United Democratic Alliance UDA Party whose leadership he described as dictatorial.
He accused MP Gachagua of only supporting UDA candidates around the country when in real sense he should be supporting all other affiliate parties in their coalition.
Kabogo then stated that the behavior displayed by the Mathira lawmaker will cost Ruto a lot of votes from the ‘Mountain Region’.
“That man is a dictator and my mistake is only speaking the truth because I told William Ruto he will lose many votes for picking this man,” he recounted.
He disclosed that he is among the few persons who were not comfortable when Ruto decided to pick Gachagua as his running mate.
“William Ruto and his UDA Party want to swallow all the other parties in Kenya Kwanza. But I have refused to be swallowed. The way they treated me against Ferdinand Waititu in 2017 is the same way they want to do it now again. They want us to support Wamatangi by force,” he charged.
Kabogo remarked that the current problems in Kenya Kwanza started immediately Ruto nominated Gachagua as his running mate; a move he was vehemently opposed to.
The Tujibebe Party leader added that he will no longer associate himself with Kenya Kwanza campaign caravans until certain thorny issues are ironed out.
“Just imagine when Ruto becomes incapable of leading the country, do you think this man can take over and lead the country?” Kabogo posed.
His sentiments are coming just hours after he held a closed door meeting with Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria who is also not in terms with UDA Party leadership.
