Tuesday, June 21, 2022 –New opinion poll released on Tuesday June 21 has indicated that Raila Odinga is now twice ahead of Deputy President William Ruto.
The pollster – Trends and Insights Africa (TIFA) – reported that the Azimio la Umoja-OKA coalition leader Mr. Odinga is the most preferred presidential candidate in Nairobi County with a whopping 50 percent against his close rival William Ruto who has now dropped down to 25 percent.
“This clear popularity gap of both ODM and Azimio is also reflected in the support-distribution for the main presidential candidates, with ODM’s Raila Odinga’s at twice the level of UDA’s William Ruto (50% vs. 25%),” TIFA stated.
This big gap between the two, according to the pollster, is linked to the emergence of Roots Party leader Prof George Wajackoyah who is said to be quickly eating into William Ruto’s youthful population from both urban and rural setting.
Wajackoyah’s popularity in Nairobi alone and as at current numbers has shot up to 7 percent; this being made up of mostly frustrated youth who Ruto has been banking on through his now famous Hustler gospel.
TIFA research latest findings also indicated that embattled Nairobi County Senator Johnson Sakaja is ahead of Jubilee’s Polycap Igathe. Sakaja(UDA Party) has 40 percent while Igathe(Jubilee) is at 32 percent – an indication that the only remaining savior for Mr. Igathe would be to pray hard for the Council for University Education CUE to bar Mr. Sakaja from vying due to academic challenges.
