Wednesday, June 22, 2022 –Senator Johnson Sakaja has a sigh of relief over his academic papers after the Commission for University Education CUE today withdrew their protest letter against his credentials to pave way for further scrutiny by relevant bodies.

In a letter seen by Homenews.co.ke, CUE Chairman Prof Chacha Nyaigoti stated that the commission will issue further instructions after completion of probe into the papers’ legitimacy.

“That the respondent wishes to confirm to the honorable court that the substratum of this suit being the letter dated June 14, 2022, for which review is sought is hereby withdrawn pending further investigations by the respondent,” said Prof Chacha.

This is after the Senator had opted for a court route to pile pressure to the commission to clear his credentials from Uganda’s Team University.

Sakaja had sought contempt charges against CUE boss, Prof Chacha, who had defied orders suspending the CUE decision.

“On the even date, June 17, 2022, at 7:00 p.m, the Contemnor herein one, Prof. Chacha Nyaigoti-Chacha, who is the Chairman of the Board of the Respondent, went live on all major National Televisions and other media fora wherein he issued a press statement whose contents were a mockery and contemptuous of the Court’s orders earlier served upon the Respondent,” partly read Sakaja’s charges.

He also argued in the papers that Chacha had resorted to chest-thumbing instead of allowing due process to determine his fate.

“That later, on June 20, 2022, at around 5:00 p.m. the Contemnor again released a signed press statement to all media houses, wherein he ostensibly made reference to the Applicant, the orders of status quo ante, and the court process in general,” further read part of the statement.

Prof Chacha-led CUE had hit the last nail on Sakaja’s educational background arguing that the Degree was not only suspicious but also not genuinely acquired.

Sakaja, on his part, however maintained that Team University which he purports to have schooled was recognized and operational.
