Thursday, June 23, 2022 –Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Mohamed Echesa is inching closer to becoming the next area member of Parliament for Mumias West Constituency.
In the latest opinion poll results announced by Mizani Africa on Thursday June 23, Mr. Echesa emerged top against the incumbent from Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party MP Johnson Manya Naicca who has served the area for more than three terms.
In the poll, the ex-sports minister is the most popular candidate in their Constituency followed by the long time incumbent and close ally of Raila Odinga, Johnson Naicca.
Echesa garnered 46.9 percent popularity against MP Naicca who only follows him with a paltry 35.1 percent indicating he might lose to the former should elections be held today.
Mr. Echesa is a strong ally of the second in command of the republic of Kenya Dr. William Ruto, and he is vying under his(Ruto’s) United Democratic Alliance UDA Party ticket.
The Mumias-based vocal politician was sacked from the Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee administration when he, reportedly, displayed gross misconduct by going against the wishes of his boss.
He would then start blaming former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for what had befallen him by accusing the ex-premier of inciting the president to sack him.
